THE LIGHTHOUSE

AMSTERDAM . THE NETHERLANDS

WINNER KAVEL12 NORTH AWARD

The lighthouse design is originated from the Kavel12 design contest.

The outlines of the Kavel12 building were fixed. The inside was free for creating your dream house without any border.

Because I always dreamed about living in a lighthouse, I decided to design my own modern lighthouse.

And thats how the lighthouse was born.

The size of the design is based on minimum dimensions but with all the basic amenities in it.

The starting point is the bed.

The whole design is based on 2200x2200mm. The walking space is placed around the functions. So the total surface is 4000x4000.

Every function is placed on a different level.

With the split level system you win a lot of space without losing the the spaciousness of the house.

Due to the verticality, it is possible to let each room flow over in one another without the use of doors but with retaining the intimacy.

By linking various functions, the different spaces are more interconnected. Space is saved and convenience created.

"The lighthouse" will be the landmark of the North of Amsterdam. And will show itself when its getting dark.

"..a highly innovative design with special dimensions that is based on a double bed, and sustainable elements."
